Art Walk

Mom spent all day packing us and getting us ready for the camping trip. Dad was driving, and grandpa was sitting next to him, with me and my little brother, Mitchell in the back seat. Mom tossed out suitcases into the back of the truck.

“Bye! Have fun,” mom said as she kissed Mitchell and shut the door.

It felt like we had driven for hours. We pulled into the camp site one some land that my dad owned. Under moms orders, grandpa attacked me and Mitch with bug spray--- and that may or may not have been the only time he sprayed us but don’t tell mom. Dad was making beef and vegetable stew.  Me and Mitchell were allowed to throw rocks into the creek, as long as we didn’t get in. let’s just say I was rebellious and decided to stick my toe in the water, because who was watching? Of course, Mitchell was still in that annoying phase where he had to do everything that I did, and dipped his foot in, but he didn’t stop. He went completely in the water. He was soaked, with some weird green goo all over him. Dad was so mad. He grabbed Mitch and went into the camper to change his clothes. He unzipped Mitchell’s suit case and saw that it was full of toys. There wasn’t any clothes.  When dad asked him where his clothes were he said “at home” and when he asked why they were ant home, he replied “I don’t need clothes” needless to say, Mitchell wore my clothes for the weekend. They were way too big and he wasn’t a fan of the princesses on everything. When I had alone time, I sat by the fire looking at the leaves. They were all kinds of colors. Red, orange, brown and yellow. It’s funny, how fast everything changes. One day its, 80 degrees and the leaves are greener than ever, and the next, its 52 degrees with brown crunchy leaves.

  1. I hope this is a true story! The part about Mitch not having clothes makes me laugh. And the part about him falling in the water reminds me of my son doing the same thing when we were walking the Greenway trail several years ago and my husband having to carry him all the way back to our house sopping wet.
